Wi-Fi dead spots. We all hate those nasty Wi-Fi dead spots, especially if they end up in your favorite place to hide in your own home. One way to get rid of them is to use mesh network, which is rising in the country fast. With it, you get a stronger and more reliable Wi-Fi network. To chime in with the whole mesh network craze, Linksys launched their Velop Whole Home Wi-Fi Tri-Band. Linksys claims to be the first Tri-Band modular Wi-Fi system with multiple configurations.
One of the first things to know about Linksys’ Velop is gives you options on how to control your Wi-Fi. It gives you advanced parental controls and website blocking, and you get a Linksys App where you can further monitor things whenever you are.
Mesh networks are intelligent hardware called nodes, which you strategically place around your home. Wi-Fi signals will be receved by each hardware and it will be re-broadcasted. This way it ensures that you get better broadband speed. This is different from WiFi repeaters and extenders as broadband speed is halved. Also, with a mesh network, even when one of three setup fails, the other two will ensure that your connection remains unfazed. In fact, a closer look at each Velop, it acts as a router, range extender, and access point. The last one is important because it means you can connect to any of the three hardware.
Velop is striking in a way that it looks simple, like a piece of decoration and not at all too techie. Each node stands about seven inches tall and the white color gives it a more homely design. Even if you don’t like its design, a seven-inch tower isn’t that hard to hide behind books in a bookshelf or inside a vase or behind a TV. Kidding aside, each Velop node is simple enough that you wouldn’t mind having around.
Easily set-up the Velop system from an Android or iOS device using the Linksys App. With a few easy steps, Velop can connect to form a mesh network that covers the home in strong and reliable WiFi. After setup is complete, the Linksys App serves as a powerful WiFi management tool with useful features such as guest access, parental controls, device prioritization, and insights that help Velop users get maximum performance and utility from their network.
The entire setup flow happens within the app and uses Bluetooth to securely communicate between the mobile device and the nodes. This resolves a critical issue in the installation of a new Wi-Fi network: when the user customizes the network name to their liking the app maintains a connection to Velop and does not force the user to exit the app and change Wi-Fi settings on the mobile device. The app presents animated visuals and thoughtful troubleshooting instructions to guide even the most novice Wi-Fi user through the uninstallation of current networking hardware and effortless installation of the parent node, which connects to the ISP modem or gateway, then subsequent child nodes, to create a seamless and reliable Wi-Fi network.
