Apple announces new iPad Mini and iPad Air

Earlier today, Apple CEO Tim Cook, tweeted a picture of himself writing “Hello” on a new iPad Mini with the Apple Pencil.

Apple has finally decided to upgrade the iPad Mini—the last model was the Mini 4, which was released in 2015. As if the brand new Mini isn’t news enough, Apple also revealed a new iPad Air.

While it’s given that both models will have new specs sheets, the biggest feature is Apple Pencil support, giving enthusiasts reasons to upgrade.

The iPad Mini will have an 8-inch screen with True Tone color technology to complement the 1536×2048 resolution. It will sport Apple’s A12 Bionic chip, despite the A12X chip being available in other Apple devices. The new iPad Air retains its 10.5-inch screen, A12 Bionic chip, fingerprint sensor, and first gen Apple Pencil support. Both models have 8MP rear cameras and 7MP front facing cameras.

The announcement is in time for Apple’s big event happening next week on March 25 (US time).  It’s expected the company will unveil their new subscription service to compete with other streaming platforms like Netflix.
