At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2019, Vivo proudly revealed its latest innovations as part of its strategy to deliver rich mobile experiences in the age of 5G. Centering on MWC’s theme of “Intelligent Connectivity” this year, Vivo showcased smart devices and applications that take advantage of the many benefits of the 5G standard.

Based on 5G-enabled smartphones, Vivo’s strategy introduces an ecosystem of 5G device offerings such as AR (augmented reality) glasses, smart watches, and smart headphones. The plan involves the adoption of a multi-device, multi-application, and multi-scenario approach to support not only the needs of individual consumers but also businesses, providing them with holistic, seamless, and valuable user experiences across all Vivo 5G devices.

“Vivo’s mission has always been to develop innovative products to deliver the ultimate user experience, with smart devices and smart services as the core of our business,” said Spark Ni, Senior Vice President of Vivo. “We hope that through the introduction of new strategy and innovations, we can truly make a big impact in improving people’s quality of life and society as a whole.”

Vivo’s first commercial 5G smartphone, the iQOO 5G, is set to be officially available starting Q3 2019.

Hot on the heels of the unveiling of the pre-commercial Vivo NEX 5G earlier, Vivo has marked another milestone on its timeline of 5G smartphone development. With MWC Shanghai focusing on 5G this year, Vivo took the event as an ideal opportunity to introduce its first commercial 5G smartphone, the iQOO 5G, set to be officially available starting Q3 2019.

Leveraging the new connectivity standard, the new phone features 5G applications, namely 5G Cloud Game, 5G Screen Mirroring, and 5G EasyShare. In the case of 5G Cloud Game, this feature allows gamers to run games not on the devices but on the cloud, thanks to 5G’s ultra high-speed and ultra-low latency connectivity. The same working model also applies to 5G Screen Mirroring and 5G EasyShare, reducing the usage of the phone’s hardware resources for optimized performance, increase storage, and prolonged battery life.

Super FlashCharge 120W

Speaking of battery life, Vivo also demonstrated at MWC Shanghai 2019 the industry-leading Vivo Super FlashCharge 120W. Featured in Vivo’s new 5G smartphone, The Super FlashCharge 120W utilizes a new charge pump technology with a deeply customizable Type-C cable and travel charger, realizing 120W ultra-high power charging (20V/6A). Based on a laboratory test, Vivo’s Super FlashCharge 120W takes only five minutes to juice up a 4000mAh battery from 0 to 50%, and 13 minutes to 100%.

Another company first, the Vivo AR Glass supports dual-screen display and 6DoF technology. When connected to a 5G smartphone, users can employ the Vivo AR Glass in scenarios where the mobile office, AR games, 3D high-definition videos, facial recognition, and object recognition are involved.

For example, when the Vivo AR Glass projects a content, the connected 5G smartphone will serve as a controller that enables the user to switch and select applications. When playing games or handling mobile office applications, the phone turns into the main console or the keyboard respectively. The Vivo AR Glass can also be used to identify people and objects inside a store when shopping.
