As one of the largest local banks, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has stepped up in its customer service through digital banking.
BPI, which has led the local banking and finance industry with innovations in the last 168 years, recently rolled out new updates and features on its website and mobile application. Here’s a quick look on them.
Save time with online branch appointments and scheduled transactions
Taking into consideration that most of their clients lead busy and fast-paced lives, BPI has brought back its scheduling of branch appointments through BPI Online. This service was first introduced in 2012. With this, BPI customers are allowed to set branch appointments ahead of time, based on their preferred time slots and chosen BPI branches.
Scheduling branch appointments online is as easy as five steps. All clients need to do is, first, log in to their BPI account, click on the Other Services tab, then go to Branch Services, and select BPI Express Assist. After this, BPI customers will be asked to select their preferred time slot and bank branch, and key in their transaction details. An e-queue number will be given.
This feature can be used for withdrawal, deposit, check encashment, and bills payment. Branch appointments can be scheduled up to the last 1-hour window of your preferred BPI branch, which means that if a particular branch has operating hours from 9 AM – 4:30 PM, clients can schedule an appointment anytime within that time frame up until 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the latest. For those who’d want to schedule at a later time, it’s advisable to look for BPI branches that are open until 7:00 PM. Customers can schedule an appointment up to two calendar days in advance.
Here are a few more reminders: remember that electronic queue numbers are valid only on the day of the appointment in that selected branch, and that a customer is allowed up to five transactions per appointment.
Furthermore, BPI has brought back the scheduling of transactions through BPI Online. Clients can now schedule their bills payment, funds transfers, and prepaid card loading up to 12 months. They just need to go to the Other Services tab and select Manage Scheduled Transaction.

Manage accounts more efficiently
Frequent users of the BPI website can manage account recipients more efficiently as the bank now allows viewing of enrolled third-party prepaid phone, prepaid card, and other prepaid accounts, as well as delete all enrolled accounts in real-time, just with the use of the website and without actually going to a BPI branch.
To ensure that all transactions on the website are safe and secure, BPI now utilizes a One-Time PIN (OTP) for enrolling accounts like prepaid card and prepaid phone. This is needed to authenticate the transaction. Always keep in mind that you should never share your OTP with anyone as this will entail risks in exposing your accounts.
Third-party accounts can now also be easily enrolled in just three steps via the BPI website. First, download the third-party application form from the website, then print and sign the enrollment form. Once done, clients can email a scanned copy of the duly accomplished form to firstname.lastname@example.org. Clients must not forget to use their registered online banking email, and write Enrollment Request-Third Party Accounts as the subject.
As an added layer of security, an SMS notification will be sent to the client’s registered mobile number upon BPI’s receipt of the emailed form. It usually takes up to 10 banking days before the requested account is added.
Also, with the updated BPI website, clients now have the freedom to choose whether to hide or show their bank accounts for more privacy and to keep information safe from lurkers.
Be on the go with BPI Mobile app
Now that smartphones have become an important part of the daily lives of people, almost all the essential transactions can be done with just a few swipes. Giving clients a better mobile banking experience, BPI continues to innovate and improve its mobile applications.
Many features of the mobile app make for seamless and on-the-go banking. Users can now take control of their cards. They can now set withdrawal and purchase limits. Plus, through the app, BPI clients can easily activate and deactivate international access, a reasonable addition to the services of the mobile app that lessens the need to call the hotline or actually go to a BPI branch.
To prevent unauthorized transactions in case of card theft or loss, BPI has also included the option to temporarily block cards using the mobile app. Similar to the website, the BPI mobile app also allows users to show or hide their running balances, as well as their transaction history.
Other key updates for the BPI mobile app are the features that were initially available only in the website. These include debit card control, viewing and downloading of electronic copies of statements of account (SOAs), and subscription and redemption of investments.
