Digital payment solutions provider PayMaya amplifies its cashback efforts with an aim of inviting more Filipinos to adapt to cashless payments as they introduce the ‘Balikbayad’ campaign through a short film starring coveted local stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
The said campaign is a follow-up to the company’s successful ‘Don’t Pay Cash, PayMaya!’ venture launched in 2019, and banks on PayMaya’s aim to provide not just security and convenience for its users, but also cashbacks from purchases paid using PayMaya accounts.
“From what we saw, the ‘Don’t Pay Cash, PayMaya!’ worked for our customers because people have been definitely using PayMaya a lot. Each one of us loves PayMaya for different reasons — to send money, to pay bills, for shopping, but one thing we all love it for, is the cashback,” said PayMaya President Shailesh Baidwan.
The ‘Balikbayad’ initiative is among PayMaya’s campaigns that support the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) goal to increase cashless transactions in the Philippines by 30 percent this year.
“Our vision really is to create an ecosystem of financial inclusion. We want people to enjoy this cashless experience so we will continue to embark on this mission to get more people to try this alternative payment method with PayMaya,” said Mark Jason Dee, PayMaya Head of Growth and Marketing.
Dee added that the ‘BalikBayad’ campaign augments PayMaya’s position as the most rewarding mobile wallet in the country.
“PayMaya is always known for convenience, it’s very easy to use. But when we heard the feedback of our customers, they always say na ang saya ng cashback. It’s the most rewarding experience one can get, and it’s not just cashback that’s going back to you, there’s time, safety, and convenience,” Dee said.
A millennial tool
According to Heidi Garayblas, PayMaya’s Head of Brand and Marketing Services, the decision to name Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla as the brand’s first celebrity ambassadors is based on the fact that a large percentage of PayMaya users are millennials.
“PayMaya directly talks to the youth. When we talk to the young ones, they’re starting to be independent financially, and they need somebody credible to talk to them about it,” Garayblas said.
Apart from being celebrities, both Bernardo and Padilla had already ventured into their own businesses. During the premiere of their PayMaya TV commercial, Bernardo shared that PayMaya is a great help for young adults like her especially in terms of adulting and managing their own money.
The said PayMaya TV commercial stars Bernardo and Padilla together with veteran actor Rez Cortes. The action-packed mini film showcases the many ways a user can utilize PayMaya—including paying bills, sending money, and for online shopping.
For this month, PayMaya users can acquire as much as PhP 6,000 cashback when they use their accounts on its different features and services. PayMaya also added new store partners under its PayMaya Preferred Program where users can get additional cashback on top of the regular cashback.
New users of the app can also get instant rewards when they download the PayMaya app and use the code PAYMAYAKATHNIEL upon signing. Know more about the ‘Balikbayad’ campaign through www.paymaya.com/balikbayad.
